The Montgomery High School Speech & Debate Team is a group of successful, college-bound students that participate in interscholastic speech and debate events across the region, state and country. We are members of the National Speech and Debate Association, The Texas Forensic Association, and the University Interscholastic League.
Our invitational season begins in early September and ends in mid-February. Our post-season begins in March at the State Tournament, and can continue until June at the NSDA National Championships. MHS Students regularly win district championships and qualify for State-level competition.
The team holds a charter from the NSDA's National Forensic League Speech & Debate Honor Society, and all eligible team members may be inducted into the society upon meeting the requirements. The MHS Chapter is a member of the East Texas District of the NSDA and is currently in the top-10% of all chapters nationally.
The team competes in several different formats of debate, public speaking, and interpretation of literature. The events offered are listed below:

100% of seniors graduating from the program have been accepted into 4-year universities.
